Randomizer; Tips

Posted on 02 Oct 2006 @ 11:31p EDT by Xerol

I've added a randomizer at the top of the main page, to give random people some exposure.

I've also redone a bit of the code, and will be doing more tomorrow. In order for the search to work without getting too complicated on the code end, your "skills" section needs to be formatted in a certain way. Each word/phrase is determined by the commas in the input. So, list each instrument/skill seperately, even if they'd normally be grouped together: Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, etc. I'm going to add a section for Equipment soon, so hold off on listing that until that's put in. I'll also put in some extra types of search which will come in handy once the database gets larger.

As always, let me know if you have a suggestion on how to make it better.

Welcome to the Live Performers Database!

We're still under construction, but if you play an instrument or have some other 'live' talent, please register! The more people we have in the database, the more useful it becomes, and therefore it's more likely that someone will come to the database seeking a performance.

Once you've registered, login and click on the "My Account" button, and fill in whatever details you need. The only field that is REALLY important is the "Skills" field - this is what searches of the database look at. Also make sure you put in some sort of contact information so people can find you.

We're also looking for someone to do a design for the site. If you want to have a crack at it, let me know.
